H.E.A.R.T.S. Organization:
H.E.A.R.T.S. (Helping Every Animal Receive Treatment and Shelter), Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization founded in Tucson, Arizona in 2009. The purpose of the organization is to provide funding for animal welfare organizations and individuals who provide food, shelter, spay/neuter services, medical care and other services to animals in Pima County, Arizona, throughout the year.  The entities selected for assistance lack the necessary resources to obtain grant or other funding on their own.  These entities provide the community with invaluable services, but need financial assistance to continue their good work and fulfill their respective missions.  Providing supplemental financial assistance to these entities will allow them to focus on the animals they are trying to save, without the fear of being shut down due to financial constraints. The current economic climate has increased the number of pets surrendered by their owners because they can no longer afford to care for them, or because they themselves have lost their homes.  This has increased the burden on shelter operators in Pima County, Arizona.  In addition, gaining control of the escalating pet population will have a significant impact on the number of homeless animals requiring care now and in the future.
